Flavoring your vodka

There are many options of flavored vodkas on the market. Unfortunately, I find, that way too often, the flavored vodkas are overpriced and overly synthetic (fake) tasting. Flavoring your own vodka is actually quite easy.

Tip: The easiest way to flavor or infuse this spirit is simply to add the desired flavoring into a bottle of vodka, cap (close)  the bottle, and allow to marinate in the freezer for at least two to three days.

Rule of thumb: The longer it marinates, the stronger the flavor.

Some of my favorite additives:

  • Orange rind, 1/2 cup
  • Grapefruit rind, 1/2 Cup
  • Lemon Rind, 1/2 Cup
  • Lemongrass. 3 to 4 stalks
  • Raspberries or Blackberries, 1 cup
  • Chili peppers, 1 or 2 peppers ( for a milder flavor, remove the seeds)
  • Tarragon, 4 or 5 stalks

Garnish:

For extra wow factor add fresh rind or fresh berries to the glass when serving.

Cheers!
